بند دره یکی از جاذبه‌های گردشگری بیرجند
بند دره ، واقع در ۵ کیلومتری انتهای خیابان مدرس بیرجند در میان رشته کوه جنوب این شهر به نام رشته کوه باقران واقع است.
این بند ، بزرگترین بند کوهستانی شهر بیرجند است که به دستور امیر شوکت‌الملک در سال ۱۲۹۴ هجری قمری ساخته شده‌است.
بند دره از سنگ ، آجر و ملات ساروج ساخته شده‌است که طول تاج آن ۳۱ متر، عرض تاج آن ۳ تا ۵ متر و ارتفاع آن حدود ۱۳ متر است.
راه ارتباطی آن از بیرجند، از طریق خیابان پاسداران امکان پذیر است.

بند يا سد تاريخي دره بنايي است عظيم از سنگ ، آجر و ملات ساروج كه بر مسير سيلابي در رشته كوه باغران احداث شده است . اين بنا با 31 متر طول تاج ، 3 الي 5 متر عرض تارج و حدود 13 متر ارتفاع ، مهمترين بند تاريخي در بيرجند محسوب مي شود .
اين بند مهمترين تفرجگاه كوهستانى استان است كه در يكى از درههاى رشته كوه باقران احداث شده است. بند دره در هشت كيلومترى جنوب بيرجند قرار دارد و از آثار دوره قاجاريه است.
وسعت درياچه بند دره در حدود سه هكتار است. در ساخت اين بند از مصالحى همچون آجر، سنگ و ملات آهك و ساروج استفاده شده و نماى بيرونى آن از آجر است. آب درياچه بند دره از نزولات جوى تامين مى شود و در بدنه بند،و در كنار صخره شرقى آن سرريزى تعبيه شده‌است، كه مازاد آب بند از طريق آن به بيرون مى ريزد و به مصرف كشاورزى مى رسد.
به جز بند دره دو بند ديگر به نامهاى بند عمرشاه وبند النگ (چارده) در همين رشته كوه وجود دارد كه از آثار دوران قاجاريه مى باشند.اين بندها علاوه بر اهميت تاريخى از قابليتهاى تفرجگاهى نيز برخوردارند.
سد دره در 11 كیلومتری بیرجند و در بخش كوهستانی شمال این شهر واقع است.

اين بند تاريخي در فاصله 8 كيلومتري جنوب بيرجند در منطقه‌اي كوهستاني از رشته كوه باقران قرار گرفته است. وجه تسميه اين بند احتمالاً بعه خاطر گذشتن آب اين سد از روستاهاي دره بالا و پايين مي‌باشد. احداث اين سد به اواخر دوره‌ي زنديه و اوايل دوره‌ي قاجاريه بر مي‌گردد. ساختمان اين بنا با پيروي از شيارهاي واقع در كوه و در مناسب‌ترين قسمت دره پايين روي طبقات رسوبي كف رودخانه بنا شده است. ساختمان بند با مصالحي چون سنگ‌هاي شكسته شده كوهها و آجرهاي 20 سانتيمتري مربع شكل با آهك و در بعضي نقاط با ساروج احداث شده است كه با توجه به گذشت زمان مقاومت خوبي از خود نشان داده است. اين بند يك سازه وزني بوده و جهت تقويت ديواره‌ي بند، پشت بند عظيمي احداث شده است. در وسط ديواره بند يك محفظه‌اي عمودي به شكل چاه وجود دارد كه در هر يك متر ارتفاع به سمت بند سوارخي ( دريچه‌اي ) تعبيه شده كه به داخل بند راه دارد. اين اثر تاريخي هم اكنون در مالكيت يك شركت خصوصي مي‌باشد و اين شركت برنامه‌هايي براي ايجاد مركز فرهنگي ، تفريحي در اين محل دارد. با توجه به ادغام سازمان ميراث فرهنگي و گردشگري بند تاريخي دره مي‌تواند به عنوان محل گردشگري مورد بازديد قرار گيرد و به دليل خوش آب و هوا بودن منطقه با توجه به اقليم گرم و خشك بيرجند مي‌تواند جاذبه مناسبي براي اهالي و ديگران داشته باشد. مرمت و تعمير و رسوب‌پردازي از بستر رودخانه و رشد درختان ريشه‌دار و بته‌ها اين بند قديمي بيرجند را نجات مي دهد.
